Punta de Mita, A Tropical Paradise. A diverse ecosystem has fostered a tapestry of natural wonders at Punta Mita. From colorful marine and wildlife, to unusual birds and butterflies, to interesting flora and trees. Sea exploration reveals pods of wild dolphins and giant manta rays, the kaleidoscope of coral reef, home to tropical fish in every color and migrating humpback whales. About 25 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport, it’s only a 45-minute drive to the resort town’s main entrance.
Surfing in Punta Mita is great for surfers of all levels, with a variety of breaks to suit all skill levels. From stoked beginners to seasoned wave chasers, there are numerous surf breaks within minutes of Punta Mita. Because of its island-like geography it offers both northwest and southwest swell exposure, and captures decent surf conditions regardless of the swell or wind conditions. This makes Punta Mita a reliable, consistent year round surf destination. Add to this light crowds, breathtaking natural beauty, warm water temps year round, and easily accessible breaks. Also enjoy whale watching and snorkeling.
About Your Painting Teacher. Wade Koniakowsky is one of the nation’s leading ocean-inspired artists. Wade began painting at the age of six and started surfing when he was 12. By blending these two passions, he has gained worldwide recognition for his oil paintings of tropical settings. Wade was selected by Vans as the artist of the 2018 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, the event that culminates the WSL surfing world tour. He has taught painting workshops for the last 12 years.
Our studio will be a covered 2nd story open air space overlooking the beach.
STUDENTS TO BRING THEIR OWN SUPPLIES: paint, canvas, and brushes. A supply list will be sent upon signing up. Acrylic paint only please. Easels will be provided.

Our focus will be OCEAN INSPIRED TROPICAL SCENES AND WAVES. A typical day will include 3 + hours (11-3pm) of painting instruction. Wednesday will include an optional afternoon excursion to San Pancho with a shorter painting period from 10-1pm.
Painting in Punta de Mita. Wade has personally been on 8 painting trips to Punta Mita in the past. “Punta Mita is rich with tropical beauty. I come back from a morning surf ready to grab my paints and immediately put to use the inspiration I’ve soaked up from the ocean”.
Cost. 5 Days painting $575. USD
3 Days painting $395 - choose what days you want to paint, Monday-Friday.
Workshop class sizes are limited to 14 students maximum per day.
Accommodations. Attendees will be responsible for their accommodations. There are comfortable, reasonably priced accommodations right in the village of Punta Mita, as well as deluxe resorts nearby. Once you arrive in Punta de Mita, you can walk from most hotels and condos to the workshop location. We can assist with hotel suggestions and contact info for local condo agents who may also be able to assist with transportation arrangements. Renting a car is also a good option if you want to check out the surrounding area. It’s an easy 45 minute drive from Puerto Vallarta airport.
