Newport Rhode Island - 2- Day Wave and Nautical Painting Workshop

July 23-24, 2026, 9am-12noon

Spend two inspiring mornings painting alongside acclaimed ocean artist Wade Koniakowsky in the heart of Newport, Rhode Island. Hosted at the newly opened Montanaro Fine Art on historic Bellevue Avenue, this intimate two-day workshop will explore the beauty of coastal painting through Wade’s signature approach to waves, light, atmosphere, and nautical composition.

Morro Bay 2- Day Workshop

June 11-12, 2026 1-4pm

Join Wade Koniakowsky and Colleen Gnos for a two-day painting workshop set along the stunning Central Coast of Morro Bay, California.

This workshop is designed for beginning to intermediate artists who want to explore the beauty, movement, and atmosphere of the ocean through wave painting and seascapes.

Day one will focus on the art of waves, with Wade guiding participants through the mechanics of waves, how light interacts with water, and the essential elements that bring a wave painting to life.

On day two, participants will create a full seascape inspired by local Morro Bay reference, incorporating the unique atmosphere and nautical character of California’s Central Coast.

"Painting Southern California" - We will work from an iconic scene of a Southern California beach. You will learn the fundamentals of composing the scene first in the large shapes and working through to the finishing detail, all while developing an intimate awareness and faculty for values, hue and edges.
