“Song of the Islander II” Original mixed media (acrylic paint, gold leaf, stain) on Mahogany and Spanish Cedar hand shaped “alaia” surfboard with hand assembled nose and tail block - 71” x 16.5” - This is a very special art board. The template for this board was taken from a pre-revival original alaia board front he Bishop Museum in Honolulu, HI. This is a classic example of Koniakowsky’s “Polynesian Collage”. Imagery includes a Tahitian wahine, tribal graphics of fish and flowers, a perfect barreling wave (in shades of Blue) and a map of Tahiti. Connecting all these elements, you’ll find abstract painting, 2 varieties of variegated gold leaf, hand applied block prints and Tahitian characters. The script message “La maita ‘i te ho’ ira ‘a” is Tahitian for “comeback soon”. The board is finished with multiple coats of a rich satin varnish. Ready to ship/deliver!

Shipping costs TBD upon customers location - approximately $200 - $300.
